School Counseling Mission Statement

The mission of the counseling department at Santee School district is to empower all students to reach their fullest potential by providing a comprehensive school counseling program that facilitates their academic, career, social, and emotional development.

What is a School Counselor?

A credentialed, trained, and caring professional who works with all students, parents, teachers, staff, and the community, in order for each student to achieve academic and personal/social success.

Program Goals

Academic:

To help students develop 21st Century skills that will enable them to reach their academic potential as well as identify possible factors that impact/impede learning and provide appropriate support.

Personal/Social:

To teach and reinforce positive behaviors that promote collaboration in the classroom, skills for successful interpersonal relationships and confidence in one's self.

Career:

To provide students the opportunity to discover various career and postsecondary education choices in relation to their personal interests, aptitudes, and abilities.
