Master's of Education with Digital Teaching and Learning - Azusa Pacific University

Mild/Moderate Special Education Credential

This is my 15th year in special education and I am ecstatic to call Rio Seco home. I started in 2006 as an instructional aide at El Capitan High School, then moved to West Hills High School for the next 7 years. This is where I discovered my passion for helping kids, so I finished my Bachelor's degree, special ed. credential, and Master's program at Azusa Pacific University's Regional Center from 2011-2014. I have worked as an Education Specialist in a K-8 Charter, a Special Education teacher at El Cajon Valley High School, a teacher at Mar Vista High School working with students in the program for students with emotional disturbances, and finally made my way back to Santee.

I have 3 amazing kids of my own, Catherine (25), Mark (24), and Sean (21), plus 2 bonus daughters from my husband. I live with my husband and our 2 Kerry Blue Terrier puppies, Darby and Dublin. I love to entertain and enjoy having friends over and feeding them well. Covid has made this especially difficult, so I'm enjoying being able to share lunch with friends more recently and I'm super excited about what this new school year will bring. When I'm not in my classroom, you'll find me riding my Peloton, relaxing at home, or hiking at the beach.

Your kids are AMAZING and I love having the privilege of showing them that they can do anything they put their heart to! I hope to teach them that their struggles and challenges are motivators to discover their own super powers and we'll build strategies to overcome them. Ask them who is their Momma Bear!
